Should I Wear SPF Everyday?

The sun never takes a day off, and neither should you.

Whether you should wear SPF everyday is a good question and it really depends on what you are doing and how exposed you are. Let’s dive in.

How the sun works

There are quite a few factors when considering whether to wear sunscreen and spf everyday, such as do you need to use it on cloudy days, or even at all in winter. The sun never actually takes a day off and some consider UVA rays being just as strong in winter as they are during summer (Note: UVA can cause aging of the skin, UVB causes burning of the skin).

The sun works 365 days of the year, and it emits UV rays that can damage your skin if over exposed. As glorious as the feeling of the sun on your skin, those rays can be harmful and we need to protect our skin against too much exposure, while still enjoying the sun. Wearing sunscreen daily can be highly recommended for glowing healthy skin all year round.

| Why you should wear sunscreen every day

Sunscreen is your friend and to this day, sunscreen is also one of the most effective ways of protecting your skin from sun damage. Wearing SPF 50 every day should be a little agreement between you and your skin knowing you are doing your best to protect it.

The kind of damage that UV rays can potentially have on your skin includes sunburn, developing pigmentation and irreversible sunspots, wrinkles and crow’s feet.

UVA rays become stronger the higher the altitude, and on average there is an 8-10 per cent increase in ultraviolet intensity approximately every 1000 meters.  Packing sunscreen along when climbing the mountain whether for a hike or winter sports is a must!

Pigmentation can be caused by a host of things, however, the sun is known to worsen and darken those stubborn spots. Pigmentation is super hard to treat, yet the simple act of applying SPF every day can help shield your skin from further damage.

Your daily habits

| How to choose the right daily sunscreen for you?

When finding a daily SPF for the face, ensure that the sunscreen you choose feels pleasant on the skin and is easy to incorporate into your daily skincare routine. This will make it easier to adopt as a daily habit. It’s recommended to use a safe certified active sunblock ingredient, such as Non-nano zinc oxide, meaning it is less toxic and causes less skin damage. The higher the harmful chemicals in the formula, the more pressure it puts on the body to rid itself of toxins. PURU only ever uses Non-nano zinc oxide which is proven as the safest active sunblock ingredient for commercial production. A little-known fact is that zinc oxide is also the only ingredient that protects against both types of UV rays. So make sure you’re choosing the least harmful yet most effective zinc oxide available that is labelled Broad Spectrum UVA and UVB.

| Use Less Chemicals Everyday

PURU 100% Natural Sunscreen contains no more than 7 ingredients and can be an excellent sunscreen for everyone, as well as containing a number of natural extracts. PURU produces a physical mineral sunscreen that puts a physical barrier against your skin and deflects the full spectrum of UVA & UVB rays away from your body. This is opposed to other chemical sunscreens which absorb the UV rays but cause a chemical reaction on the skin that is then absorbed into the body along with other toxic chemicals. PURU does not use any harmful chemicals or substances in its sunscreen.

Your daily habits

The foundations of any great skincare routine are a gentle cleanser, a moisturiser and SPF. Applying sunscreen every morning should be part of your daily skincare routine, and if you use a 100% natural sunscreen with the safest certified spf then you will help avoid overloading your body with toxins.

Everybody needs some sun exposure to produce healthy doses of vitamin D, so if you’re active outdoors in all seasons, the best sunscreen is the sunscreen you reach for every day.
